TRC Academy Womens Basketball 2019-2020

Please help us welcome our new Women’s Head Coach Takima Keane #TRCWBB to TRC Academy. Takima grew up in a basketball family, playing Ontario & Canada basketball. She was one of the very first Canadian women to be in a prep program. As a founding member of NEDA she went on to play at Cleveland State University on a D1 scholarship. In her 4 years Takima completed a double major in psychology & communications. She then began to coach & assist in basketball operations. As a graduate assistant at Northern Illinois University WBB Takima completed her Masters of Science in Sports Management. The same year Coach TK was hired as the assistant coach at Canisus College (DI MAAC conference). She has a passion to mentor and assist young women in their pursuit of success on and off the court, and life thereafter. No stranger to understand the challenge to build a successful women’s basketball program. Takima’s goal is to provide and promote an environment of growth, support, guidance and development to the young women of TRC Academy.

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”-Aristotle

The daily bar will be set at excellence. In all areas, at all times: this will be the expectation. I aim to provide an environment of professionalism, competitiveness and integrity. Fun in my opinion is found in the enjoyment and understanding of how hard you have outworked others. Winning is fun, being the best is fun, and it is that mentality that I hope to pass on to every player I encounter. Excellence is found in the details; doing the smallest of things with the same energy we apply to the largest of tasks. I expect any players I work with to carry themselves as a role model, and an extension of their program, and family. For me it is just as important to walk into a gym focused, and unified; as it is to step on the court ready to perform. I want all players to compete against each other but play for each other all at the same time. Too often young female athletes confuse this concept and mistake healthy competition with a breach in their interpersonal relationships. Athletics is a way to teach and promote the foundation for success in all areas of life, and I take that responsibility head on. My love for the game and appreciation of all it has done for me forces me to hold it in a high regard. This respect for the game is something I intend to demand from my players and program on a daily basis. Playing is a privilege that we should never take lightly. -Coach TK #ALLiN
